A. V. Kanishchev

* Originally in Ukrainian:
Kanishchev, A. V. (2000). Psychotherapeutic and psychohygienic support in the treatment of viral hepatitis. Ukrainian Medical Almanac (Lugansk), 3, 6, 102–104.

Psychopathological phenomena in the clinical course of viral hepatitis remain, as a rule, at preclinical level; however, they have substantial influence on the patientsí perception of disease and their behavior during its treatment. Psychotherapeutic approaches in various “difficult” situations are proposed in the article. In authorís opinion, inadequate types of patientsí attitude toward the disease should be the main target of psychotherapy. Besides, full and exhaustive information about the disease must be the essential part of patient-physician relationship; also it is the most important psychohygienic factor. Psychotherapy and psychohygiene must be closely connected with organizational moments of the treatment, all medical advices and prescriptions.
