The following contribution deals with possibilities of drug prevention, which are offered by the Internet. The analysis of the target groups of drug prevention demonstrates, that in Germany approximately a quarter of all youngsters experiment with illegal drugs without getting already particular troubles like health and addiction problems. For this group who is situated in the intersection between primary and secondary prevention until now no suitable approaches of drug prevention exist.

At the same time we can observe the spread of a wide spectrum of homepages to drug topics in the new medium “Internet”. There we can follow an intensive, anonymous communication about drugs and drug experiences which is heavily frequented by young people and which is organized by different persons and institutions. For that reason our institute at the TU Dresden has developed a preventive nternet project. In the framework of youth work a homepage from young people for young people has been created. Virtual communication and practical, active media work shall help to initiate a process of self-reflection, to sentisise for a risk-conscious drug use, to promote media competence and life skills and to activate young people in the sence of empowerment.
